Section 1 -Reflection from Chennai: A Week of Healing and Humbling Perspective
Sitting at the airport in Chennai, reflecting on what has been an intense and eye-opening week, I can’t help but feel grateful for the incredible experience. I’ve spent time with some of the most talented and compassionate specialists in every discipline,. From longevity, gastroenterology, orthopaedics and respiratory medicine. The level of care, expertise, and human attention here has been nothing short of extraordinary.
While my chest is still tight and the team couldn't land on a definitive diagnosis (it's somewhere between pneumonia, pneumonitis, and pulmonary oedema), I now have a clear treatment plan and a better sense of the road ahead. It’s likely that climbing any more mountains this year is off the cards, but with three months of active rest and three months of focused training, I’m confident I’ll be ready for the next summit—both physically and mentally.
However, beyond the medicine, what has struck me the hardest is the stark contrast between privilege and poverty here. India is rich in spirit, culture, and community, but it’s impossible to ignore how little so many people have. It’s humbling—a powerful reminder of how fortunate I am, and how important it is to use that privilege to be better, do better, and help more people wherever I can.
This week hasn’t just been about recovery. It’s been a reset.
Thank you to my amazing team for your ongoing support. I’ll be back soon—and I’m bringing friends 😊

Section 4 - Events, Offers, Insights and Announcements: "KKR and Stonepeak Lead £1.7 Billion Acquisition of Healthcare Giant Assura, Signaling Strong PE Interest in NHS-backed Assets"
We like to keep an eye on whats happening in the world of healthcare and a private equity consortium led by KKR and Stonepeak is set to acquire Assura, a London-listed healthcare landlord, in a deal valued at £1.7 billion (around $2.3 billion). Assura, an FTSE 250 company, owns and develops healthcare facilities leased predominantly to NHS general practitioners, providing a stable, government-backed revenue stream.
The deal follows Assura's rejection of a merger proposal from Primary Health Properties, which would have created a £6 billion healthcare property group. Instead, Assura's board recommended the KKR-Stonepeak offer, viewing it as a compelling outcome for shareholders.
This acquisition reflects ongoing private equity interest in UK-listed companies with stable, long-term income, particularly those in the healthcare sector. It also highlights the broader trend of UK companies moving to private ownership or delisting, amid challenges facing the London Stock Exchange in retaining and attracting listings. The exchange is under increasing pressure to reform in order to remain competitive globally.
Interesting stuff
Section 5 - Property with Paul Langshaw: Investment Strategy and Free Property Inspection Template Offer
It’s been a busy week of travel from North Wales to London for some investment meet-ups, but well worth the journey to network with incredible people. There’s a strong sense of optimism in the property investment space, and a recent Nationwide UK survey shows that demand for rental properties continues to rise, despite rent stabilizing.
While the Renters Reform Bill is still in progress, it hasn't dampened spirits. Having gone through previous legislative changes, I can assure you that those who adapt early will emerge stronger. The shift towards professionalism in the sector has been coming for years, and those landlords who have embraced it are unphased by the changes.
Despite regulatory challenges, the payoffs remain worth it, especially in high-yielding northern areas, supported living, and HMOs. Record-keeping will be crucial, as landlords must maintain perfect records to ensure safety, create great homes, and meet legal requirements, especially when seeking possession of properties. The courts will rely heavily on well-maintained records, and any errors could jeopardize a case.
Essential records include tenant communications, rent payments, property inspections with photos, maintenance logs, safety certificates, and deposit documentation. Professional landlords with meticulous records will find the courts more supportive, and eviction processes should become quicker under the new system.
Landlord licensing is already in effect in many areas, raising barriers to entry and benefiting serious investors as amateur landlords exit the market. This, combined with the ongoing housing shortage and government new-build targets falling short, will reduce competition for professional landlords.
In times of change, preparation is key. Get your systems right, maintain impeccable records, and focus on providing quality accommodation. This will turn regulatory changes into a competitive advantage.
As a helpful resource, I’ve created a comprehensive annual tenanted property inspection template that follows national guidelines. If you'd like a free copy, simply email me, and I’ll send it over.
This investment landscape is evolving, but for those willing to evolve with it, the opportunities remain substantial.
